A BIGGER, BETTER COATESVILLE CLASSIC
Coatesville's
traditional 8k fun run, walk and relay are better than ever in 2010.
And now the Kids' Classic 2k has an extra bonus for your local school.
The No.8 Classic run, the Classic Walk
and the Classic Muster Relay follow the traditional 8k fun run
route - a scenic lap through the heart of rural Coatesville, just
north of Albany in Auckland.
But this year we bring you chip timing and the Coatesville Cup. The
No.8 Classic men's and women's winners will receive special prizes - shoes of their choice from Shoe Science Albany - but the first Coatesville residents home in the men's and women's
races will each be awarded a Coatesville Cup.
Cementing the Classic's place in the heart of the
community, $5 from every 8k distance entry will go to support improvements to the
Coatesville reserve.
It's not just about Coatesville. For every entry into the Kid's Classic
2k, your nominated school - wherever it is - will keep $5 of the $10
entry fee paid by their students.
Congratulations to Allison Roe
We are delighted to see that
Allison Roe has been inducted into the New Zealand Sports Hall of Fame.
Allison may be most famous for winning both the Boston and New York
marathons in the same year, and for her marathon course records, but
she is also two-time winner of the Coatesville fun run!
What's your story?
Check out our
history page, and if you can fill in the many gaps, we'd love to hear from
you. There isn't much documentation for the Coatesville Classic and we know there must be some stories out there - so drop us a line on our contact form and our web manager will get in touch to find out all about it.

WHAT A DAY!
It WAS a bigger, better Coatesville Classic and it's all down to a great crowd of people, some really fantastic kids, a whole busload of patient volunteers - and the weather, of course. You can read all about it and see the pics in our race report.
From the moment Water in a Box led the race out onto the circuit to the moment the last kid crossed the finish line, it was smiles all round. But we want to hear how it went for you. What did you like? What do you want to see changed? Use the contact form and it's on our list for next year?
Our favourite moments? The start gun for the No.8 Classic. The great performances by our first man and woman home, Gavin Bisset and Fleur Walter (on a course that has its challenges - Heartbreak Hill, anyone?). The way so many runners and walkers enjoyed the scenic course. The warm up and countdown for the Kids' Classic - I've never heard a bunch of kids shout so loud. And the sheer effort on the faces of those kids as they came in to the cheers of their parents. It was a great day in Coatesville - see you all here next year.
BONUS TIME!
To celebrate the Coatesville Classic's return as an event with all the bells and whistles, we will be sending out results texts to your mobile free of charge! Your finish line time will go out to the mobile number you supply us when you enter - all part of a great day out in Coatesville.

Now it's all over...
There's a couple of ways you can hang
onto memories of a great day out in Coatesville. Don't forget to visit your results to check out your stats and download your race certificate with your time
and place on it.
And you can take the link from there to see Marathon Photos' shots of your race finish - like this great one of the youngest kid on the block, Nico Swart, 21 months, coming over the mat as the last finisher in the Coatesville Classic 2010. All we can say is he's starting young and surely has a great career ahead of him!
We'll leave you with...
Holly Docherty's shot of the race start with the Water in a Box car waiting to lead the No.8 Classic runners out onto the course. Got a favourite photo? Send it in via the contact form and we'll add the best to our website. See you next year!
